modeler4aThe title says it all. Version 4 is now available, replacing v3.3 as the current version.

What you need to know:

My Two Favorite New Features

Comment Only Views
If you need to publish or produce a diagram for less technical users, with just an overview of entities or tables, you can now create a version of your diagram with just the names and their comments. It’s just what it sounds like, but maybe a picture would help?

Only comments, plus comments, or no comments?

NOT Searches
The new and improved Search feature in v3.3 was a huge game-changer for the Modeler. A slight tweak in v4’s Search has made it even more useful. I can ask questions like, what table columns have comments that aren’t blank? And it’s really easy to ask this question now.

Or maybe I want to see any table that has columns properties that aren’t NULL when it comes to sensitive information, PII, or redaction schemes. That’s easy with an Advanced OR searching using the ‘Not’ flag.

Toggle to advanced search, select your properties, and select the 'Not' checkbox

So basically show me any column that’s NOT null or undefined for selected properties. And…go!

...and the results.

And that’s all I got to say about that.

  1. This is whole lot better development tool than prior versions. Impressive even after working with Erwin, DBArchitect and other modeling tools in other RDBMS.
