Tradeshows, user groups, conferences, seminars are all used by vendors to meet with customers and hopefully increase the chance of a sale in the near future.

I have been working these types of events since 1999. In that time, I have never seen a vendor resort to playing a feature length movie on the big screen in order to draw customers into their booth.

For the past 2 hours I have been watching Avatar in HD and Surround Sound. Thank you ‘insert-company-name-here’ for the entertainment.

This just reminds me how nice it is to have several hundred folks walk by and engage you because they have strong feelings about you, your company, and your products.

Confession: We do give away T-shirts.

  1. I was at a trade show 4 years ago where a vendor was playing the world cup games on a big screen. They had the busiest booth at the show… by far!

Yeah, they had the World Cup games up on the big screen for the tradeshow floor. I’m just glad we don’t have to resort to that kind of thing for attention.
